CLAIM
A video of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi claiming her to be intoxicated has gone viral. Shared by a Facebook page called ‘Humlog’ has gone viral, the video was captioned, “शाम होते ही #शराब के नशे में चूर हो जाने वाली से #कांग्रेस को उम्मीद हो सकती है मगर देश को नहीं है” (Translated: A drunk leader might be Congress’ hope, but it can't be country's hope).
With around 4,800 shares so far, the video shows Priyanka talking to media in a strict tone and the page has termed it as intoxication.
TRUE OR FALSE?
The claim is entirely false. The video is actually from a candle march that took place in April 2018, headed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the Kathua and Unnao rape cases.
In the original ANI video, Priyanka, who was present at the march, can be seen getting agitated at the crowd over media persons for pushing each other.
Priyanka, in the video, can be heard saying, “Those who have come here to push people around must go home.”
Both her children, who were there, were also reportedly pushed around in the crowd during the march. She was also heard requesting the crowd to respect the cause they had come for.
The march was attended by hundreds. Police reportedly faced difficulties in controlling the crowd as many had barged in through the barricades. Traffic movement, too, came to a halt near the India Gate due to the crowd.
The video shared by Humlog’s Facebook page claiming intoxicated behaviour on Priyanka Gandhi’s part was just her asking people to not push around the crowd.
