Did a ‘Confused’ Priyanka Gandhi Say ‘Don’t Vote for Development’?

Well, no. The video has been edited out of context to further an agenda. Also, the video is quite old.

A video of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressing a rally has gone viral, where she can be heard saying:

"When you go to vote on 30th, don't vote for yourself, or for Soniaji, or for Rae Bareli, or for development... For all this you will definitely cast your vote."

The video has been shared with the message: "प्रियंका गांधी के अंदर घुसा राहुल वायरस, बिना पढ़े क्या बोल गई" (Translated: Rahul Virus attacks Priyanka Gandhi, she too speaks without reading.")

TRUE OR FALSE?

The video has been edited out of context by the Facebook page to further an agenda. Also, the video is quite old.

The original video of the rally was shared by the official YouTube page of the Indian National Congress on 27 April 2014, when Vadra had addressed a rally in Rae Bareli ahead of the general elections.

In the three-minute long clip, Vadra hits out at Modi's '56-inch chest' comment, elaborating on the qualities needed to run a country like India.

At 1:36 minutes in the video, she is heard urging people to vote not for themselves but for the country. She says:

"When you go to vote on 30th, vote not for yourselves, not for Soniaji, not for Rae Bareli, not for development – for all this you will definitely vote. But vote for this country. Cast your vote to make this country strong. Vote to keep this country united. Vote to protect the culture of this country."

This part of the video has been snipped out to make it appear as though a 'confused' Vadra was advocating against voting for development.
