Eleven years ago, terrorist attacks carried out by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) left Mumbai reeling.

CLAIM

An image is doing the rounds on social media, claiming to show police officer Tukaram Omble, who was martyred while fighting the terrorists. Multiple users shared a photo collage paying tribute to the slain officer.

A tweet by a user named Aashish Palod reads, “Our brave hero of 26/11 #TukaramOmble who took around 40 rounds from the AK47 of Ajmal Kasab but captured him alive. We salute you million times Tukaram Omble Ji. You will be live in our hearts forever #MumbaiTerrorAttack #mumbaiterrorattacks #MumbaiAttacks #NeverForget (sic).”

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan also retweeted the aforementioned tweet, which had garnered over 3,800 likes at the time this piece was written. The same image was shared by BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje as well.

WHAT’S THE TRUTH?

The picture collage is misleading. The picture to the left, which shows a bloodied cop, is actually from a film based on the 26/11 attacks titled ‘The Attacks of 26/11’.

HOW DID WE FIND OUT?

On conducting a reverse image search, we came across a tweet by Eros Now which had the same clip in which the actor playing Tukaram Omble’s character was shot.

At around 3:14 seconds, the same clip, which has been shared online, can be seen.
