Social media users are sharing videos of Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and a drone shot of a large crowd, claiming to show visuals of the ongoing protests related to the repeated irregularities with the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) exams.
Dipke's video is being shared to claim that he showed support for the protesters by showing up in Ranchi, and the video of the crowd claims to show protesters in the city.
How did we find out the truth?: We ran reverse image searches on different screenshots from the video, which led us to older visuals sharing the same clips.
Video One: One such post, shared by an Instagram page called 'justmenthink.in', had posted a longer version of Dipke's video on 19 July 2026.
In this video, which was a clearer version of the clip in the claim, we noticed a banner in the background, which read, "Peaceful protest. Dharmendra Pradhan, resign!"
This clearly establishes that the video is an old one and is from the CJP-led protest in Jantar Mantar.
While Dipke and the CJP have expressed their support for the student protests in Jharkhand, the former has not joined the movement on the ground as on 6 August 2026.
Video 2: Next, we looked into the last clip showing a massive crowd.
A similar search on the clip led us to another Instagram post, shared on 20 July, mentioned that the video showed drone footage of the "ongoing protest in Delhi," referring to the same CJP-led protest.
When we compared visuals in this video to Google Maps' street view, we were able to confirm that the video was shot in Delhi.
One section of the video correctly shared a video of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Puja Mahto, who sat among protesters to support their cause.
Conclusion: Social media users are sharing two old videos, falsely claim that they show recent visuals from Jharkhand's student protests.
