TRUE OR FALSE?

This video is not from an explosion at Halal Disco in Jeddah, rather it’s an old clip that dates back to July 2014. It is from a protest that was held in Kuwait and the Kuwaiti police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

On conducting a simple Google reverse image search, we found several tweets by users claiming the incident took place in 2014 in Kuwait.

While digging further, we searched for protests in Kuwait in that year and found the same video dating back to July 2014 uploaded on YouTube.

This video, however did not carry the commentary in Arabic like it did in the viral video.

Reports of the protest were also carried by Al Jazeera and Associated Press.

According to the reports, on 6 July 2014, Kuwaiti police fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse hundreds of protesters in the capital demanding the release of Musallam al-Barrak.

Over 2,000 people had marched from Kuwait’s Grand Mosque where police broke up the demonstration.
