Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and several Hindi new publications shared an old and edited video with a claim that it shows a Pakistani person breaking his TV after their team lost to India in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.
The claim was shared after India beat Pakistan on Sunday in a tight encounter in the T20 World Cup.
However, we found that the video was from Turkey and nearly six years old. It showed a football fan breaking his television set after his girlfriend pulled a prank on him by switching off the TV during a match against Croatia.
The clip showing the last ball from the India-Pakistan match from 23 October was superimposed on the old video.
CLAIM
Sehwag shared the video with a caption that read, "Relax Padosi, it’s only a game. Hamaare yahan Deepawali hai toh pataakhe phod rahe hain aur aap bevajah TV 📺 phod rahe hain."
[Translation: Relax neighbours, it's only a game. We are bursting crackers because it is Diwali, and you are breaking your TV for no reason.]
Using Sehwag's tweet, Hindi news publications NewsNation and LiveHindustan, too, shared the video.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT
We fragmented the video into multiple keyframes using InVID WeVerify Google Chrome extension and conducted a reverse image search on some of the frames. This led us to a report published on Yahoo in 2016, and it carried a screenshot from the viral video.
Another report published on CNET, an American media website, noted that the video was from Turkey. The person in the video was identified as Izzet Salti, who is a football fan. Reportedly, his girlfriend, Seda Kember, pulled a prank on him during Turkey's match against Croatia in UEFA Euro 2016.
She used a mobile application to turn off the TV during the match. Unable to figure out what was happening, Salti got mad and threw his laptop at the TV and went on to break it.
The original posts, mentioned in the CNET story, were deleted. However, we found a video from 2016, which showed the entire sequence of events.
The old video showed a football match on the TV and not the India-Pakistan T20 match.
Evidently, an old video was altered to falsely claim that it showed a Pakistani fan breaking his TV after the team's loss to India.
