Hindi Serial Stills Shared as Kashmiri Journo ‘Tortured’ by Army

CLAIM

Pictures of a man purportedly being beaten up by the Indian Army inside lock-up is being widely shared on social media, with the claim that the man seen is a Kashmiri journalist named Fahad Bhat.

A Twitter user claimed that the Indian Army had arrested the journalist from his residence and “tortured him.” He went on to say that the world is worried about Amazon forests but not the Kashmiri people.

WHAT WE FOUND

On fragmenting the video into key frames and conducting a Google reverse image search, we came across a website called India Forums.

According to the website, the video is from the Hindi TV serial ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’ which aired on Colors TV five years back.

A further dive into the results reveals a video of the protagonist of the serial, Ranveer (played by actor Shakti Arora), in which he is talking to the media.

In the video, the protagonist can also be seen talking about his acting experience and thanking the viewers in the UK for giving the serial a good rating.
