A picture of a Ram Navami banner strung to the walls of a Hyderabad mosque is doing the rounds on social media along with deeply communal commentary. However, the truth of the banner is quite different from what it seems. The Ram Navami banner, in reality, is not even touching the mosque.
The banner has a photo of BJP MLA Raja Singh on it and a number of Hindutva followers are only too proud of their leader. However, what they are thumping their chests over is merely an optical illusion. As clarified by Hyderabad Police on their Twitter handle, the real banner is actually hanging from a rope away from the mosque. A different camera angle corroborates this clarification.

Fans of MLA Raja Singh are also claiming and giving him credit for covering the mosque in white cloth before supposedly hanging the poster. However, that too is a flawed assertion.
As reported by Social Media Hoax Slayer, Hyderabad city has always feared communal tension and hence, local government bodies and police hide religious structures as a precaution when they feel communal sentiments could be high. They did so during Ram Navami in April 2017 and during Ganesh Puja in September 2017 too, among other occasions.
A case has been registered and the authorities are on a look out for the source of the false picture, reported Deccan Chronicle.
