A woman from Delhi's Rohini alleged a cab driver and his friend robbed and gangraped her in Greater Noida as she was returning from Hauz Khas on Tuesday night.
Speaking to ANI, the DCP of South Delhi Ishwar Singh said that there were some contradictions in the victim's account when she filed her complaint.
The victim allegedly told the police that she went to Sarai Kale Khan at 11 pm to board a bus, but upon reaching, realised that the bus had left. She then proceeded to hail an auto back home to Rohini, but the driver dropped her off near Ansal Plaza in Hauz Khas.
Then she boarded a taxi to Rohini and on the way an associate of the driver sat in the vehicle. They later drove the car to Greater Noida and gangraped her there.
According to an earlier Hindustan Times report, the woman had said that the cab driver gave a lift to another man. The driver and his friend then drove to Greater Noida and held the woman at gunpoint, taking her to an isolated spot near Pari Chowk.
The duo then supposedly dragged her to some secluded bushes in the vicinity and took turns to rape her, after which they robbed her of her cash, jewellery and mobile phone.
The duo allegedly fled the spot, abandoning her on the roadside. Unsure of how to approach the police in Greater Noida, the victim and her husband, who is also a taxi driver, approached the Delhi Police through the latter's employer.
