Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was a ‘star’ campaigner for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the five state assembly elections, broke his silence on the results on Wednesday, 12 December, by claiming that the Congress won through “lies.”
"The Congress' lies will start unraveling soon, and that will make our future battles even easier," Adityanath, who had addressed 72 rallies across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana told NDTV.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, he said that his party does not blame the EVM for defeats.
“But we never bask in our victories while blaming our defeats on electronic voting machines (EVMs), unlike our rivals who practice serious double standards in this regard. When they win, they immediately start worshipping the EVMs,” Adityanath told NDTV.
The Congress party unseated the BJP from three important states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh – located in the Hindi heartland.
Adityanath was addressing the conference in Patna, after he attended the ‘Vivah Panchami,’ the symbolic wedding of Lord Rama with Sita in Nepal, and offered prayers at the famous Janaki temple.
“It is my privilege to participate in ‘Vivah Panchami’ celebrations at Janakpur in Nepal... Nepal organised the celebrations on a grand scale where lakhs of people participated,” he told reporters in Patna after offering prayers at Mahavir Mandir.
He called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his official residence and Bihar governor Lalji Tandon.
