Don’t Need Law and Order Lessons From You: Siddaramaiah Tells Yogi

Siddramaiah also criticised Yogi for his comments on Tipu Sultan.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday slammed his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for flaying his government on the law and order front, saying, on the contrary, there was lawlessness in UP.

Siddaramaiah's comments come a day after Adityanath lashed out at the state government, alleging that the way  Hindu and BJP workers are being "brutally" killed signified "a state of anarchy."

There is no other place in the country where law and  order had deteriorated to the extent it has happened in UP and Bihar. There is no law there in UP. What will they come and teach us here?

The chief minister also criticised Adityanath for accusing the Congress of "insulting" India's rich tradition by showing respect to the 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan, whose birth anniversary celebrations by the government had triggered a controversy.

"What is my name- Siddarama, there is Rama in my name. We celebrate Rama jayanti, Hanuma jayanti, also Tippu jayanti," Siddaramaiah said.

Listing 'jayantis' of various social reformers,  religious and historical leaders like Basava, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Valmiki and Kanakadas observed by the state government, he  said "We celebrate jayantis of every one." Speaking at the "Parivarthana Yatra" rally, organised by the state BJP in Hubballi on Thursday, Adityanath had called Karnataka "the land of Hanuman" and home of valour and  courage which was ruled by the erstwhile Vijayanagara empire.

It was unfortunate that the Congress "instead of  worshiping Hanuman and Vijayanagara was worshiping Tipu  Sultan," he had said.

Karnataka Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil also slammed Adityanath, for “trying to create a rift in society”. He told reporters:

He came to Karnataka and tried to create a rift in society, which is typical of the BJP. The UP CM should concentrate more on UP, see what is the situation of law and order there. He is not able to do good administration in UP [sic]. Divisive and caste-based politics will not work anymore. Development is the focus.

At a party rally in Karnataka, Yogi also asserted that "no one can stop" the BJP from forming a government in the state in the upcoming Assembly polls, due early in 2018.

Referring to the recent assembly polls in the two states where the BJP won, Yogi said:

This is the difference in mindset, because Congress wants to implement across the country the mafia raj that Rahul Gandhi has inherited. Karnataka has to dismiss this, like Gujarat and Himachal have.

Appealing to the people to support BJP for the sake of Karnataka and its development, he said the Congress has always neglected the state by making lesser financial allocations.

“World over leaders want to replicate India’s developmental agenda ushered in by Narendra Modi. But Congress, which doesn’t know what is development, is laughing at it and is raising questions about it,” he said.

With Congress at the helm, development cannot reach the ground level in Karnataka, he said.
