Congress President Rahul Gandhi started his three-day-long Gujarat tour on Saturday, 23 December with a visit to Somnath Temple. He is back in the state to review the party’s performance in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Just before kick-starting his campaign in Gujarat, he took a jibe at the BJP – yet again:
On Friday, he chaired his first Congress Working Committee meeting in New Delhi as the Congress President. Addressing the press after the meet, he slammed the BJP government, alleging that their whole infrastructure is “based on lies”. He attacked the Modi government on demonetisation and the GST, and called the Gujarat model a sham.
Rahul to Meet MLAs, Leaders
During his three-day visit to the state, Gandhi will hold meetings with all the newly-elected MLAs, leaders, and party workers across the state to review the election result.
The Congress, along with its allies, won 80 seats and restricted the BJP to less than 100 in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state.
There will be a party workers meet at Gujarat University convention hall at GNBC ground in Ahmedabad. The Congress will analyse in detail why it failed to dislodge the BJP, which has ruled Gujarat for 22 years.
