As Priyanka Gandhi Vadra undertakes her first mega roadshow in Lucknow on Monday, 11 February, with party President Rahul Gandhi, The Quint’s political experts sat down to discuss its political fallout for the Congress.
What more than gaining votes does this roadshow aim to achieve right before the Lok Sabha polls?
For one, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra officially jumped on the Twitter bandwagon, making it obvious that it’s an "organised strategical move on Congress’ part”.
Two, her presence has amplified Congress’ roadshow as opposed to the previous two rallies headed by Rahul Gandhi.
Three, although Priyanka Gandhi is the General Secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, her statement on the Hooch tragedy, which falls in western UP, only shows Congress’ attempt to not restrict itself to the eastern UP alone.
Four, the party will use her public speaking skills – and specifically target votes of women and youth, even as the party faces a challenge in proving itself as a Hindu party.
We discuss them all!
