The announcement of Priyanka Gandhi's entry into active politics has enthused members of the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections this year.

Even as the date for Priyanka Gandhi's rally is yet to be announced formally, party supporters have started weaving a series of slogans for the event.

From veteran politicians during Indira Gandhi’s tenure to modern-day youth workers of the party, everyone is coming up with suggestions of their own.

Ahead of Rally, Supporters Work on Slogans

Members of the Congress party are leaving no stone unturned to make this rally a great success. To ensure greater outreach, some party workers are reportedly circulating old videos of Priyanka Gandhi on WhatsApp to understand her nature and personality.

The news of Priyanka Gandhi's appointment as Congress general secretary for East Uttar Pradesh has conspicuously charged up party workers, who are now giving their best shot at coming up with new slogans, while also embellishing the existing ones with a tinge of poetry.

So far, the slogans revolve around the idea of “Indira Gandhi's reflection” in her granddaughter. In them, Priyanka is projected as “a ray of hope” who will “put up a tough fight against (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi in the upcoming general elections.”

Here are a few slogans that have been doing rounds:

Apart from these, a slogan that was written in the year 1984 has also resurfaced.

The slogan - 'अमेठी का डंका, बिटिया प्रियंका’ (Amethi ka danka, bitiya Priyanka) – was written by Congress worker and poet Jagdish Piyush in 1984, when Priyanka Gandhi was just 12 years old.

Piyush also wrote another famous slogan – राहुल मेरा भाई है, यही कांग्रेस (आई) है (Rahul mera bhai hai, yahi Congress hai).

Preparing The War Room in Lucknow

Priyanka Gandhi has been given the responsibility of east Uttar Pradesh. The high-profile seat of PM Modi (Varanasi) and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s stronghold Gorakhpur – both fall in the same region.

The Congress is all set to challenge PM Modi, with the party preparing a lavish, state-of-the-art office for the new UP general secretaries in Lucknow.

The UP Congress Committee offices in the state capital feature two auditoriums, one of which will reportedly be used as a media centre.

According to party sources, Priyanka Gandhi will formally take charge in the first week of February, after which her brother Rahul Gandhi is expected to begin the poll campaign.
