Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE Updates: Both Houses of the Parliament saw ruckus on Tuesday, 8 August, while the Opposition demanded a discussion on the Manipur violence under Rule 267.

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day after it saw discussions on the no-confidence motion moved by parties of the INDIA alliance and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be present in the House.

Kicking off the no-confidence motion discussion, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi posed three questions to PM Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha.

Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav slammed the Centre over the violence in Manipur, calling it "state-sponsored ethnic violence," during the no-confidence motion debate. Watch the video of her speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called a parliamentary party meeting where PM Modi reportedly said that the "arrogant alliance" needs to be countered by the NDA by a show of unity.

While the no-confidence motion debate will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, PM Modi is expected to give his reply on Thursday, 10 August.

'Send an All-Party Delegation to Manipur': NK Premachandran

This is the first time in the history of Indian Parliament that the Opposition is compelled to move a no-confidence motion in order to ensure the presence of the duly-elected prime minister in Parliament. It is a strange thing that is happening in a parliamentary democracy, said RSP MP NK Premachandran during the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

"The people of Manipur, in particular the minority communities in the state of Manipur, is under the impression and having an apprehension that the silence of the prime minister is deliberate and intention to achieve some political gains. That is the allegation that is being made by the people of Manipur when we visited the state," Premachandran said.

He further demanded the removal and replacement of Manipur CM N Biren Singh from the chief ministerial post "with immediate effect." "Send an all-party delegation to the state of Manipur under the leadership of a Cabinet minister, if it is possible to have the home minister. Convene an all-party meeting to be attended by the prime minister to find out a political resolution to the basic issues of Manipur as well as the northeast. Relief and rehabilitation measures should be strengthened and expedited on the auspices of the government of India," the veteran parliamentarian suggested.

MP Questions Opposition Silence on Crimes Against Women in Rajasthan

"The incident (Manipur viral video) took place in May, why the Opposition delegation visited the state in July just ahead of the Monsoon Session? Wasn't it just a photo-op? Why the Opposition is not talking about crimes against women in Rajasthan?" questioned Independent MP Navneet Ravi Rana during the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
