As Bihar comes to terms with its new Cabinet of ministers under the JDU-NDA combine, an NDTV report has revealed that Nitish Kumar spoke to his former ally Lalu Prasad Yadav moments before announcing his resignation as Chief Minister.
Approximately 10 minutes before resigning from the top post, CM Kumar telephoned the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief to say “Lalu-ji, I beg your forgiveness, but after running the government for 20 months, I cannot do it any longer. I am going to quit,”NDTV reported.
According to reports, Yadav tried to persuade Kumar to reconsider his decision. But it was all in vain.
Hours after Nitish Kumar resigned only to return as Bihar Chief Minister but this time in alliance with the BJP, Yadav said the “people of Bihar had been backstabbed” by the state’s CM. He then accused Nitish of “looking for an excuse” to join hands with the BJP.
