In a statement to the media, and also in a tweet, DMK Chief MK Stalin condemned the appointment of Nageshwar Rao as interim CBI Director. He also termed it as an abuse of power in the same tweet.
Stalin alleged that Nageshwar Rao met Deputy CM OPS at the secretariat. In a statement to the media, he has linked this to the ongoing Gutkha Scam investigations.
“Appointment of controversial officer like Nageshwar Rao is nothing but to ensure that the CBI remains as the caged parrot of the BJP govt. When CBI is investigating Gutkha scam & MHC has ordered an investigation against EPS for awarding Contracts for his relatives, the move to send CBI director Alok Verma has raised suspicion.”MK Stalin, DMK Chief
An Eventful Day for MK Stalin
MK Stalin also appeared before a special court in connection to the defamation case slapped on him by the AIADMK government. The case was filed by a former city public prosecutor in February 2012, following a news report which stated that he had made comments against the government.
Six other cases were filed against him subsequently. Stalin had asked the court to exempt him from appearing in person for the rest of the cases, which the court has agreed to.
“Several complaints were sent to the CBI director against Nageshwar Rao and there are reports that the CBI director Alok Verma wanted to initiate investigations into allegations against him. Was this move initiated to cover up Rafale scam investigations? This shows that an undeclared emergency has been imposed in our country.”MK Stalin, DMK Chief
In a series of tweets and statements, Stalin has linked the two incidents and has called the TN government corrupt, while also accusing the central government of imposing an undeclared emergency.
