A tweet criticising the Devendra Fadnavis-led government was posted on Sunday by the official Twitter handle of the BJP's Maharashtra unit, with the party claiming that the account was hacked.
The tweet, which criticised the state government's policy towards job creation, was deleted, but not before its screenshots went viral on social media.
The tweet had tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, along with some other Congress leaders. The tweet also had a hashtag ‘#FoolInMaharashtra’.
Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye, responding to the tweet, said that they “feel” that their Twitter handle was hacked to post the message. He added that the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police will investigate the matter.
