'Modi Govt's Welfare Policies Are Revolutionary'

The BJP on Sunday described the Narendra Modi government’s welfare policies as “revolutionary” and asked the people to take a “pledge” to return him to power in 2019 so that its development policies continue.

A resolution adopted by its National Executive cited measures like the GST, the health policy, the Mudra loans and the Jan Dhan accounts to underscore its pro-poor credentials and asserted that the “pro-poor” plank, which was with the Congress during the Indira Gandhi’s leadership, has shifted to it as the prime minister has earned the trust of the people.

For the first time people are voting for development instead of caste and religious identities, the party claimed, as it cited its massive win in Uttar Pradesh and rise in Manipur to make its point.

“The BJP calls upon the people of our country to take a pledge to form a government under the leadership of Narendra Modi in 2019 in order to have the continuity of development and welfare policies for all in the country,” the resolution said.

PM Modi’s speech at the meet was also about Jan Dhan, Jal Dhan and Van Dhan.

Elaborating on the Prime Minister’s ‘Mission 2022’, when India marks 75 years of Independence, Gadkari talked of adopting ‘P2, G2’ – Pro People, Pro Active and Good Governance.

We will bring about change that will make India one of the top nations in the world.

He further said that earlier too, there were many policies launched to help the country, but “bad governance”, “socio-economic discrimination” and other reasons hampered progress.

On the issue of triple talaq, the Union Minister informed that the PM said “if there are social evils, the society should be woken up and efforts made to provide justice”.

ANI also quoted PM Modi as saying:

Our Muslim sisters deserve justice. We should try to solve this issue at the district level. We should also proceed on the formula of a new India. We can’t simply move forward on a slow pace, but charge ahead with full speed.

PM Meets Descendants of Paika Rebellion Martyrs

PM Modi on Sunday met the descendants of historical Paika Rebellion martyrs, who undertook an armed rebellion against the British rulers in Odisha in 1817.

He felicitated the families of freedom fighters at Raj Bhavan in presence of Governor SC Jamir.

Today, the history was recalled with pride. It is my honour to see the descendants of martyrs. Unfortunately, the long years of freedom movement was confined in few persons and specific period. We should recall the events and contribution of everyone who participated in the freedom struggle.
