Soundarya Rajinikanth and Vishagan Vanangamudi have finally tied the knot at The Leela Palace in MRC Nagar, Chennai. Pre-wedding festivities began on Friday, 8 February, and it has been a gala affair over the weekend.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, ministers Kadambur Raju, Thangamani, and others blessed the married couple. Director Ravikumar and Mani Ratnam, former President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) Su Thirunavukkarasar, MDMK Chief Vaiko, veteran journalist Nakkheeran attended the celebrations.

2. Tripping disrupts Metro Rail services
Metro Rail services were affected on Monday morning, 11 February, leaving hundreds of passengers literally stranded on the tracks. The disruption was a result of tripping of an overhead electricity cable in the ramp area between Saidapet and Little Mount stations.
The train heading towards the airport came to a grinding halt, and as a ripple effect, four other trains had to be stopped, sources said.
Owing to the disruption, trains were operated only between AG-DMS to the Chennai airport from 8.30 am till 12.45 pm. and this led to major delays, affecting hundreds of passengers, sources said.

3. Apollo Wants Medical Proceedings Stayed in Jaya’s Death Probe
Apollo Hospitals has submitted a writ petition to the Madras High Court, asking for a stay on the proceedings related to the medical treatment, including appearance of doctors, pending before the Arumughaswamy Commission of Inquiry. “Apollo submitted that it will be filing a memo before the commission to adjourn the appearance of doctors posted on 12 and 13 February,” read the press statement sent by the hospital.
The court was hearing two writ petitions filed by the hospital, which stated that the commission must confine itself to gathering facts, and not go into the “efficacy, correctness and adequacy or inadequacy of treatment,” and urging the court to form a medical board.

4. Tamil Nadu Cop Stops Motorist Gang with Lathi, Gets Beaten
A police constable was allegedly attacked by a gang of 11 on Sunday night, 10 February, for blocking the vehicle of one of the men using a lathi. “At around 11.30 pm, when the two police personnel were near the Dr Gurusamy bridge in Chetpet, 11 youngsters travelling on five motorbikes were speeding towards Choolaimedu,” said a police officer.
As the last motorbike was passing by, Murugan hit the vehicle with the lathi in an attempt to stop the motorist, said the police. “The lathi hit the side mirror and then the driver's face. In the melee, the three men on the bike lost balance and hit a barricade on the road,” said a police officer. Though the motorists all drove away from the spot, they soon returned and picked an argument with the constable.

5. Chinnathambi to Be Captured and Sent to Elephant Camp: TN Forest Dept to HC
The Tamil Nadu Forest Department on Monday, 11 February, informed the Madras High Court that wild elephant Chinnathambi will be captured and sent to an elephant camp. Wildlife activist Arun Prasanna filed a petition requesting the court to order the department to not convert Chinnathambi into a kumki elephant.
The division bench said that going by the information available in the media, it seems that Chinnathambi’s behaviour is not like that of a wild elephant. They acknowledged that crops were damaged and that the people are scared of the elephant. Meanwhile, the officer from the Forest Department said that despite attempting to send Chinnathambi back into the forest, it keeps coming back into the village.
