Kumar Vishwas expressed his disappointment at having been denied a Rajya Sabha nomination by the Aam Aadmi Party, saying "This is how I have been rewarded for speaking the truth for the past 1.5 years".

The AAP, on 3 January, nominated ND Gupta, Sushil Gupta and Sanjay Singh for the three Rajya Sabha seats, elections for which are scheduled to take place on 16 January.

AAP founder member Vishwas lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister and party convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying:

He is like a dictator. Only his words matter in the party.

Earlier, his supporters staged a demonstration outside the AAP office demanding that he be sent to Parliament.

I accept my martyrdom but even in wars, there are certain boundaries and rules. Although I am you friend, you don’t mess with the martyr’s dead body. I know that nothing happens without your (Kejriwal’s) consent in the party and hence, disagreeing with you made it difficult to stay alive in the party.

The Aam Aadmi Party has 67 MLAs in Delhi's 70-member assembly and is expected to win the rest too.
