“Jayalalithaa wanted me to be President of India”, Subramanian Swamy said unequivocally in an interview with News18. He didn’t stop there. He went on to say, “Jayalalithaa had a huge admiration for my scholarship.”
In his homage to J Jayalalithaa, the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister who passed away late on Monday night, the Indian politician unwittingly drew attention to himself. And thus, Twitter found its latest punching bag.
However, this isn’t the first time Swami has made comments that made people sit up and listen, or shown inclination towards a political position he did not hold. Earlier this year in September, Swami had said that he believed he could do a better job at being the Finance Minister than Arun Jaitley.
