Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday around 11 am flashed a victory sign as he entered the Parliament. As the prime minister got down from his car he did not speak to the media, but folded his hands and greeted them and then flashed the V sign.

As per the latest trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party has been leading ahead of the Indian National Congress in both the election-bound states, i.e. Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

However, the initial trends showed that there was a tough competition between the Congress and the BJP in Narendra Modi’s home state. The stock markets had crashed following the trend.

However, as the counting progressed the Amit Shah-led party marched ahead of its rival.

The BJP has been ruling Gujarat for the past twenty years and if they win, it is going to be their fifth consecutive term.

The saffron party was leading in 103 seats in Gujarat, while the Congress was at 74 after initial rounds of counting. In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP was ahead in 41 seats while the ruling Congress was on 24.

The counting of votes for 68 Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh and 182 constituencies in Gujarat began at 8 am on 18 December, Monday. The counting of votes is still in progress.
