On his maiden visit to Patna Sahib after he was declared as the BJP candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Ravi Shankar Prasad’s welcome was anything but pleasant.
Soon after he landed in the city, a clash broke out between his supporters and that of BJP leader RK Sinha, with Prasad’s detractors raising ‘go back’ chants.
In a video that has now gone viral on the social media, Sinha’s supporters are seen shouting slogans of ‘Ravi Shankar Prasad, go back’ and ‘RK Sinha, zindabad’.
They are purportedly angry over Prasad getting the ticket for the Patna Sahib seat. He never came to meet the people in Patna, claimed one of the protestors.
The Patna Sahib seat, which was held by actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha since 2009, was handed to Prasad. Shatrughan Sinha has been openly critical about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah on many occasions in the past five years.
Before the announcements were made, speculation of RK Sinha getting the seat was also rife. The seat eventually went to Prasad.
