Results of elections in five states will be known on March 11. But if Facebook popularity is anything to go by, BJP appears to be the clear winner.
According to data released by Facebook, BJP has emerged as the party with the most number of unique mentions on the social networking site. The data has been compiled for the period between February 19 and 28. It relates to the number of unique people discussing political parties.
Not surprisingly, PM Narendra Modi is officially the most popular Indian political leader on Facebook, with 40 million likes on his verified page.
Among the issues discussed by unique users during this period, defence topped the list, with 46% of people mentioning it.
And India also accounts for the single-largest number of Facebook users from a single country –195 million.
