As many as 15 days after the official website of the Bharatiya Janata Party – http://www.bjp.org/– was taken down after it was allegedly hacked, it was up and running again on Thursday, 21 March.
However, the website currently only sports a graphic showing PM Modi and party President Amit Shah and BJP’s first candidate list, which was declared earlier in the day.
In fact, a tweet by the party’s official handle about the candidate list had a link to the website.
The website was reportedly hacked on Tuesday, 5 March. However, no hacker group had claimed responsibility for it.
For the last 15 days, the website remained offline with a message that read: “We’ll be back soon! Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. We’ll be back online shortly!”
The message was also accompanied with a logo of the party with the tagline ‘The Party With A Difference.’
