As the election dates close in, Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stone unturned in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh. The party released a list of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming polls, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, followed by party chief Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The political climate in the state has been wrought with pre-poll foreboding, with Himachal Cabinet Minister Anil Sharma resigning from the government and the ruling Congress party to join the opposition BJP along with his father and former Telecom Minister Sukh Ram.
Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will be held in a single phase on 9 November and the results will be declared on 18 December.
Himachal Pradesh will be the second state after Goa with 100 percent VVPAT (paper trail of votes) coverage. The paper trail machines will be deployed along with EVMs in all the 7,521 polling stations, including 42 auxiliary polling stations at remote places.
