On 4 November, a four-member delegation of the TMC visited the families of victims who were killed in Assam’s Tinsukia, and also offered the families Rs 1 lakh in compensation.
Assam remained tense over the killing of five persons by unidentified gunmen at Tinsukia district on 1 November, when five Bengali-speaking men, including three of a family, were killed by gunmen at Kheronibari village. The statewide bandh call by some organisations over the killing evoked a mixed response across the state.
A bandh was called by the Sadou Asom Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation and several like-minded organisations to protest the incident on Thursday night, .
Police suspect the gunmen belonged to the ULFA (Independent) faction but the group has denied its involvement in the incident.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Tinsukia, TMC MP Derek O’Brien said that the Trinamool Congress would do everything in their power to find the perpetrators of the crime.

A Trinamool Congress delegation led by Derek O’ Brian arrived at Assam’s Dibrugarh Airport on Sunday, 4 November. The delegation includes Lok Sabha MP Mamata Bala Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP Nadimul Haq and MLA Mahua Moitra, reported NDTV. They will be visiting Tinsukia district on Sunday.
