Congress leader Alpesh Thakor, on Tuesday, 12 December, claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was “dark like him,” has become “fair” as he reportedly eats imported mushrooms every day.
Thakor claimed someone told him that he would not be able to eat the food Modi eats, as it was not the food “poor people eat.”
Addressing a rally, the OBC leader said somebody told him that the Prime Minister eats mushrooms that are imported from Taiwan. Each mushroom costs Rs 80,000 and Modi ate five of them every day, he alleged, reported ANI.

In the video that has gone viral, Thakor ‘jokes’ that in the photo that he saw of Modi 35 years ago, he was “dark as him,” but the mushrooms that he ate have made him “fair”.
I saw a photo of Modi from 35 years ago, he was as dark as I was. But now, how is he so fair. So understand this, Modi can eat mushrooms worth Rs 4 lakh every day, and Rs 1.20 crore every month.Alpesh Thakor
He said the Prime Minister had started eating imported mushrooms ever since he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The convenor of the OBC, ST and ST Ekta Manch, Thakor joined the Congress on 23 October at the rally of Congress president-elect Rahul Gandhi.
The Gujarat election campaign has seen both the Congress and the BJP exchanging barbs. While the first phase of the polling was held on 9 December, the second phase is scheduled to be held on 14 December.
