“Food has no religion,” responded Zomato, on Wednesday, 31 July, to a controversial post made by a Twitter user, who apparently cancelled his order after he was assigned a Muslim delivery executive.

Amit Shukla, on 30 July night, wrote a series of tweets about cancelling the order he had placed on Zomato as his designated delivery executive was a ‘Non-Hindu’. He shared screenshots of his conversation with Zomato’s customer care as well, saying he would take up the matter with his lawyer.

However, the company stood its ground and refused to assign him a different delivery executive.
