Controversial Islamist preacher Zakir Naik’s bank account allegedly received Rs 60 crore from three different countries in last three years, according to the Mumbai police probe report.
We still don’t know what this money was meant for. We have done an inquiry and found the money trail. The money was transferred to family members’ accounts. We may question Naik’s NGO Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) about the source of income, the connection between the depositors and NaikPolice Officer to Times of India
However a source close to Naik said, “There is no illegal transaction. The money came into the bank account, and all the records of IRF have been cleared till 2015 by the Income Tax department.”

According to the Indian Express report, the funds were allegedly transferred to Naik’s wife, children and other relatives’ accounts.
We have come across one local bank account during the course of our investigation in which Rs 50 to 60 crore has been allegedly transferred from Middle-Eastern countries. This account belongs to a relative of Naik. On further investigation, we found that funds were later allegedly transferred to the accounts of Naik’s wife, his children and some of his close relatives.IPS Officer to The Indian Express
A senior officer also said that the investigations have led to the revelation of four shell companies that allegedly conducted no actual business. These include a construction company, a company dealing in realty, a solvency company and one that manufactures perfumes.
Naik’s family members are directors in the companies. When we went to the addresses registered in Saki Naka and Andheri areas, we realised that they existed only on paper; the companies do not function from the addresses registered.Police Officer
