Dineshwar Sharma, the Centre's recently-appointed special representative for Jammu and Kashmir, will visit the Valley from 6 November to hold talks with various stakeholders, officials said on Thursday, 2 November.

During his visit, 61-year-old Sharma will talk to the political leadership in the state, besides other organisations which step forward to meet him.

The former Intelligence Bureau chief had already listed that in his new role, he would like to counter false sloganeering and propaganda available online and ensure that the youth and students become a party in the peace process.

The 1979-batch IPS officer of the Kerala cadre, who rose to the prestigious post of Director of Intelligence Bureau, was recently appointed as the Centre's representative for sustained dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir.

The Centre had also accorded 'Z' category armed security cover to Sharma.

Official sources had said Sharma would be secured by commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) whenever he travels to any part of the country.

Given his work profile, it was essential to provide the special representative a personal security cover. He will have about six to eight commandos with him at any given time. A pilot and escort vehicle will secure his convoy,

A security review of Sharma's residence in Delhi and analysis of his other requirements are on, and the VIP security team of the CRPF will soon take charge, the official said.

The CRPF has a special unit that provides armed VIP security to about 70 dignitaries at present.

The central government had recently notified the appointment of Sharma, former director of the Intelligence Bureau, as its interlocutor for sustained dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to the media earlier, Sharma had said that he was optimistic about the talks and said he believed that peace would come back to Kashmir.

I will go and see who all come for talks. I am positive about talks, peace will return to Kashmir soon.
