South Indian actor Shobhana on Tuesday said that she has no plans to return her national awards as a protest against communal intolerance in India.
The dancer-cum-actor said that she does not have any idea why writers are giving back their awards.
“Whatever the reason is I will not give back my awards,” the actress said in a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram.
Shobhana went on to say that while she received her national award soon after her entrance into the film industry, many of those returning their awards might be doing so because they received the recognition quite late in their careers.
They may be protesting because they received the awards very late. Awards should be given on right time. Otherwise I don’t know what the controversy is about and why some are returning their national awards.

She also told the media that she does not watch Malayalam movies anymore and that a fake/fan Facebook account in her name has more followers than her own account.
