A 40-year-old woman died after being stabbed multiple times outside the Thyagraj Stadium in south Delhi late on 31 July, the police said.
The woman was accompanied by her six-year-old daughter when the incident occurred. She was stabbed on the abdomen and the chest five times, reported Times of India.
The woman, identified as Santoshi, was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where she was declared brought dead. "She was stabbed nearly five times outside the stadium gate. By the time security guards rushed to help her after hearing her cries, the accused had fled," a police official said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was being followed by the accused either on a car or a bike. Both the victim and the accused have been captured on CCTV.
"We have registered a murder case and identified a few suspects," Deputy commissioner of police (south Delhi) Ishwar Singh told the Times of India.
The woman lived with her five children in a rented accommodation in Delhi’s Pillanji village. She is separated from her husband, Rambabu, who lives in Rajasthan, police said.
