A complaint has been filed with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission against the BJP MP from Mysuru, Pratap Simha, for allegedly harassing a woman physically and mentally, ANI reported on Wednesday, 17 April.

In her letter, she has also reportedly claimed that the BJP candidate from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, has sexually harassed other women.

She has also alleged that “Pratap Simha has indulged in physical and verbal harassment with her.”

A number of screenshots and audio clips, purportedly of conversations between the accuser and Pratap Simha, are doing the rounds on social media. The incumbent from the Mysuru parliamentary constituency is once again standing for elections on a BJP ticket. Mysore goes to polls on 18 April, Thursday.

Earlier in April, the State Commission for Women had summoned Tejasvi Surya after a complaint was filed with them, following a tweet by a woman alleging that he had harassed her.

‘Congress Using Dirty Tricks’: Tejasvi Surya

Speaking to ANI, Surya came out in support of his fellow BJP member claiming that the Congress party was using “dirty tricks” and “doctored content”.

“I am surprised, rather appalled, that Congress is derailing election campaigns of its opponents using such dirty tricks. Issues of elections are very different, issues are related to jobs, performance of the government in the last five years and aspirations of young India.”

He further added that the Congress campaign was based on “lies, fake news and manufactured issues.”

“On the local level, it is sinister personal campaigns using doctored videos and character assassination of people. Is this the level to which Congress wants to stoop, adulterate and pervert political discourse?” he questioned.

The Quint tried to reach out to Simha for his comments on the accusations against him but he remained unreachable.
