Deepali Ganore, the wife of police inspector Dyaneshwar Ganore, was found stabbed to death at her Vakola residence in Mumbai’s Santa Cruz, police said on 24 May.
The incident occurred late on Tuesday night in Prabhat Colony. Dyaneshwar Ganore, 42, was a part of the team probing the sensational Sheena Bora murder case.
The couple’s 21-year-old son has been missing since Tuesday night, Hindustan Times reported.
“Tired of her. Catch me and hang me” was reportedly written in blood near the body. The words were accompanied by a smiley emoticon, News18 reported.
According to the police, Ganore found the doors of his apartment locked from within when he returned home after work last night.
He tried to call his wife, but her cell phone was switched off. Later, he opened the flat himself from outside and found Deepali lying in a pool of blood, police said.
Ganore contacted the Police Control Room to report the incident, they said.
An offence of murder was registered against unidentified persons at Vakola Police Station on the morning of 24 May and all possible angles are be investigated into. A probe is underway, police said.
Police suspects that the killer may be someone known to the family.
