Celebrations to mark the 84th Air Force Day are in full swing at Ghaziabad’s Hindon airbase. The proceedings were kicked off by some kick-ass coordinated para-jumps that wowed the spectators.

The first Air Force day was celebrated on 8 October 1932 by the British to showcase their air power to the world.

The 84th Air Force Day was a visual treat with vintage aircraft on display, and low-wing training aircraft like the PC 7 flaunting the skills they are capable of.

During the inauguration, Air Force Chief Arup Raha inspected the guard of honour. President Pranab Mukherjee, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the IAF, sent out tweets lauding the air force.

Raha conferred gallantry medals on his men and also spoke about the attack terror on the Pathankot air force base in January.

With the delivery of 36 Rafale aircraft to begin next year, Raha said that they will greatly improve the IAF’s capabilities.

He also said that the IAF is prepared to deal with "any challenge" in "the most befitting manner".

We are getting smarter and smarter and are fully prepared for any contingency.

In his message on the official Facebook page of the IAF – Indian Air Force, Power to Punish – Raha said the force is operating some of the most modern weapons and equipment and that the air warriors exercise ceaseless vigil of the skies.
