Thirteen flights departing from New Delhi airport were diverted, and as many as 85 delayed, because of VIP movement.
The Delhi Airport's website showed over 85 delayed domestic arrivals at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 8 pm, NDTV reported.
Jet Airways tweeted that VVIP movement at the airport was the cause for the unusually large number of delays and diversions
This number fell, but stayed at 15 delayed flights and 8 diverted flights at 9 pm. Fliers affected by the delay took to Twitter to voice their anger.
Flight carriers SpiceJet and Jet Airways took to Twitter to address complaints.
ANI also confirmed that the delay was caused by VVIP movement, citing ATC sources. Indira Gandhi International Airport is the busiest airport in India with over 1,200 flights passing through each day.
