The postgraduate student, who had levelled harassment charges against BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand, on Monday, 9 September, alleged he raped her, and also physically exploited her for one year.
Addressing the media in Shahjahanpur, the law student claimed that the police was refusing to register the rape case, news agency PTI reported.
“Swami Chinmayanand raped me and even exploited me physically for one year,” she alleged before media persons, with her face covered with a black scarf.
‘POLICE NOT REGISTERING RAPE CASE,’ ALLEGES UP STUDENT
The student alleged that after the Delhi police registered her complaint, it was forwarded to the Shahjahanpur police, which did not register the rape case.
"The Delhi Police has registered this complaint at Lodhi Road police station and has forwarded it to Shahjahanpur police, which is not registering the rape case," she said.
The Special Investigation Team on Sunday had recorded statements of the family members of the student.
She said that the agency quizzed her for 11 hours and she informed them about the rape allegations.
“On Sunday, the SIT quizzed me for about 11 hours. I have told them about the rape. Even after telling them everything, they have not arrested Chinmayanand yet.”Law Student
The SIT on Saturday visited Chinmayanand’s residence, ashram and the college run by him, where the woman studied, reported PTI.
The SIT, headed by Inspector General of Police Naveen Arora, had been set up by the UP government on the Supreme Court's order.
The apex court had said that an Allahabad High Court bench will monitor the probe.
WHAT HAPPENED
The woman had gone missing after levelling allegations against Chinmayanand in a video, and was later found in Rajasthan by the UP police.
The apex court judges said the woman had raised certain grievances against the institution where she studied and her mother and father had some apprehensions about the safety of their children.
The Shahjahanpur police had on 27 August lodged an FIR against the BJP leader after the student went missing following her allegation in a video clip.
Her father had filed a complaint with police accusing Chinmayanand of sexually harassing her, a charge refuted by the BJP leader's lawyer, who claimed it was a "conspiracy" to blackmail him.
The woman's father had alleged that she went missing at the behest of the 72-year-old BJP leader, who heads Mumukshu Ashram.
