For excelling in studies, a Class 8 student in Sitapur was sedated and raped on several occasions allegedly by her four jealous cousins and a teacher.
All the five accused filmed the act and had circulated some of the clips on WhatsApp among family members, IANS reported.
The girl, who was sedated by the accused, became aware of the crime only after seeing the clips.
Following their circulation, parents of the 16-year-old girl lodged an FIR against all five. One of the accused has been arrested while four are absconding.
“Once the girl was sedated, the youths and their teacher took turns to rape her while one of them filmed the act on a mobile phone. When she regained consciousness, she was told she fainted on the playground and was hence, brought to the staff room.”Madhuvan Kumar Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police (North)
The girl in her complaint said that she was gang-raped by her cousins multiple times in the past two years, Singh said.
‘Wanted to Cut Her to Size’
The four accused are seniors in the same school and the incidents have taken place at a government school in Maholi thana area of Sitapur.
A preliminary probe indicates that the cousins apparently wanted to "cut her to size" for excelling in studies while they flunked exams. They all live in a joint family and were allegedly often humiliated by the girl who stood first in class.
The crime took place during recess. The cousins asked the girl to have lunch with them. Food, laced with sedatives, was served in the staff room. She was raped thereafter.
