The Uttar Pradesh Police, on Sunday, 3 June, suspended a constable from a police station in Kanpur for allegedly abusing the family of deceased photographer Ankit Saxena on Twitter, Hindustan Times reported.
The family and friends of Saxena, who was allegedly killed by his girlfriend’s family for being in an inter-faith relationship with her, hosted an Iftar party to “promote peace, unity and love” on Sunday. In response to a tweet by a news channel about Saxena’s family hosting Iftar, Constable Arvind Singh Parihar tweeted, “Congratulations on embracing Islam, hara****r.”
After an inquiry ordered into the incident found him guilty of posting the offensive tweet, Kanpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar suspended Parihar, HT reported.
