On Wednesday, 20 December a 16-year-old hung herself at her residence of Kakaiyan Talaiya which falls under Jabalpur because she was allegedly raped by her 'uncle', said a report by The Times of India.
A widow who is originally from Nepal, lived in Kakaiyan Talaiya area with her three sons and a 16-year old girl. A labour contractor used to frequently come to her house whom the children called ‘uncle’.
Anjulata Patle, CSP Gorakhpur tells Times of India
Patle went on to say that the mother left for work as per routine leaving her children home alone. The ‘uncle’ Dinesh entered the house during this span of time and came up with a ruse to get the girl alone by sending the boys out for some work.
He went on to rape her and then made an exit, leaving the minor in shock. She hung herself after the act.
Dinesh made a return only to see her hanging from the ceiling and even brought her down from the ceiling, but once spotted by the neighbours, he swiftly fled.
The neighbours informed the mother of the victim and the police.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against the accused and a hunt has been launched to arrest him, said Patle.
A similar incident of a minor being raped occurred in Jabalpur yet again a month prior where a minor was found pregnant after being repeatedly raped.
