As the admission process is currently underway in the country, University Grants Commission (UGC) released a list revealing 23 fake universities operational in the country, and Uttar Pradesh has the most.
The list was released by UGC on Tuesday, 23 July. While Uttar Pradesh has eight fake universities, Delhi has seven.

Last year, UGC had also released a list of such fake universities which included Maithili University/Vishwavidyalaya, Darbhanga (Bihar), Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi (UP), and Commercial University Ltd Daryaganj (New Delhi).
