Just weeks after two girls were found dead at Patna’s ‘Aasra Home’, two more girls have “escaped” from the state-run shelter home, police told ANI.

On 12 August, two inmates of the shelter home, aged 18 and 40, were found dead under mysterious circumstances. While the shelter home claimed the women died during treatment at Patna Medical College, the hospital authorities said the inmates were brought dead.

According to IANS, four people were booked in the case on 13 August. Chitranjan Kumar and Manisha Dayal were sent to police custody for questioning in connection with the deaths.

Kumar is Secretary and Dayal the Treasurer of 'Aasra' home that shelters women with mental disabilities. Both have denied any wrongdoing and claimed that they had documentary evidence to prove it.

A Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe the deaths.

Just days before the death of the two girls, the shelter home came into news when four of its inmates had tried to run away. The police then carried out an investigation and arrested a person, living in the vicinity. He was alleged to have been luring the inmates by offering gifts.
