No Country For Love? Netizens Outraged Over Ankit Saxena’s Murder

The internet expressed its dismay at the 23-year-old photographer’s brutal murder for loving outside his community.

The country is shocked at the brutal murder of photographer Ankit Saxena in the middle of a busy Delhi street on 1 February. As his mother cried for help, many bystanders allegedly simply took pictures and videos of his body.

Ankur’s Dad: “People were busy taking his photos instead of helping him.” His Mom: “20-30 people gathered around us were clicking videos while I was calling for help.” That’s a telling comment about #India and we Indians. Shame!

News reports of how the boy was killed by his girlfriend’s family became the talking point on several social media platforms including Twitter. Comments ranged from discussing the role of religion in this tragedy, to the voyeuristic attitude of bystanders present at the incident who failed to lend a helping hand.
