- Strong tremors were felt across north India, including in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Delhi, as a 6.2 maginitude earthquake hit the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border on Wednesday, 9 May.
- The tremors were also felt in various parts of Pakistan, including in Islamabad. The earthquake occurred at 4:11 pm and was epicentred in the Hindukush mountains.
- Earlier on Wednesday, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, injuring at least nine children and causing panic among the residents, media reports said.
