You might think that in today’s day and age, technological advancement means increasing distance between people living together in a society. But this 60-year-old American has crafted a totally different story.
Deb Miller, a native of California, travelled all the way to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to attend the wedding of her 28-year-old ‘Facebook son’.
Surprised? That’s not even the biggest twist.
Miller gifted Krishna with jewellery worth Rs 25 lakhs and a 125-year-old ring that she had purchased from an auction house in Britain.
So this is how the story unfolded.
Krishna Mohan Tripathi, had met Miller virtually around four years back while browsing profiles on Facebook. As they started interacting, he began to share personal stories with Miller.
Krishna said he received a surprise phone call from Deb Miller on 20 January. She told him that she was in Delhi enquiring trains to Gorakhpur.
Krishna’s mother had died when he was a teenager. Deb said,
I do not have children and when I interacted with Krishna, I felt god had fulfilled my wishes. He is a very nice person and I pray to god that all his wishes come true.
Krishna is currently pursuing MSc from Awadh University and expressed his desire to be a lawyer. He said that his “mom” has invited him and his bride to the US.
Deb Miller expressed her gratitude to Krishna, who has accepted Deb into his family.
When asked about her opinions on social media networking, she said,
Facebook is a good platform to meet new people. With a tool like that, one has to be really careful because it’s easy to become mesmerised by a thing like that.
