The Quint had exclusively reported that Iram Sayar, wife of an ex-militant, is running from pillar to post to be able to meet her ailing father. The story evoked a huge response and Iram was contacted by the ruling government’s legislature.

The heart-wrenching story of this woman from Pakistan may have finally moved Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who has called upon Iram. Amid high hopes, Iram met Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday afternoon at her office and assured that she will raise the matter with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

CM has assured to take up the matter with Union Home Minister, who will be visiting Srinagar after two days. The policy under which we had come has not been legalised yet. She assured to begin the process to legalise that policy soon. She gave us a patient hearing. On priority basis and on humanitarian grounds, we will look for temporary entry permission through the LoC.

Mufti had asked Sayar to meet her through a local MLA, Advocate Aijaz Ahmed Mir, on Tuesday. The family met Mufti at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar on Wednesday.
