A 15-year-old girl, who was returning to her home in Ghaziabad around 5:30 pm on Saturday, 22 December, was allegedly molested by three men, according to a Hindustan Times report.

The culprits, molested and snatched the teenager’s phone, who was on her way back home from a coaching class, Hindustan Times reported. Incidentally, the same girl was allegedly gang-raped near a highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district in 2016.

“The two men on one of the bikes held her hands and made advances towards her. They misbehaved with her and pulled out the keys of her vehicle before snatching her phone when she resisted.”
Victim’s Father to Hindustan Times

The bikers fled the scene after people rushed to her rescue, but followed her again till she reached the house, the victim’s father said, according to the Hindustan Times.

The police have lodged a first information report (FIR) and arrested two persons, on a complaint raised by the victim’s father. The FIR was filed on charges of criminal intimidation and molestation. Provisions of Children from Sexual Offences Act were also added, reported the Hindustan Times.

Ravi Saini and Ashi Bhati, who are from the same neighbourhood, have been arrested. However, she could not identity the third person, said the Superintendent of Police Shok Kumar, according to the Hindustan Times.

In a similar incident in July 2016, the girl and her mother were allegedly gang-raped and the miscreants had robbed them of their jewellery. The gang had waylaid six members of the girl’s family, who were on their way from Noida to Shahjahanpur. The men and other members of the family were tied up in the fields near Dostpur village in Bulandshahr, according to the Hindustan Times.

Uttar Pradesh police had initially arrested three persons, but they were not charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that took charge of the case in August 2016. Later on, the police arrested three more people, who were named in the CBI charge sheet.
