H1N1, or swine flu as it’s commonly called, has claimed over 81 lives in Rajasthan and 15 in Punjab.
The spread of this virus has been particularly bad this year, with over 1,094 recorded deaths over the past eight months. August has seen maximum deaths.
The number of deaths this year is four times more than fatalities recorded in 2016, which had seen a dip in occurrences.
Worst hit continue to be Maharashtra and Gujarat with over 437 and 297 deaths recorded respectively.
As cases increase by the day, experts have said this unseasonal strike of the virus may be because of a mutation which is making it flourish in the current environmental conditions.
With no letup in monsoons and flooding in large parts of the country, we need to be aware and take precautions.
